YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED

Privacy notice

Effective November 3, 2026. Sumwarden is owned and operated by Chip Sineath. Privacy requests: chip.sineath92@gmail.com.

Practice without an account

You can try the lessons without signing in. Your browser stores your nickname, completed quests, practice dates, XP-related state, review list, shortcuts, settings, and recent practice events in local storage. Exported save files contain learning progress and your nickname. Clearing this site’s browser storage removes those local copies.

Signed-in learning

Sumwarden uses Sign in with ChatGPT to associate your account with saved progress. Sumwarden stores a site-scoped account identifier and display name, rather than a separate email/password account. The server processes submitted formulas and workbook projects to check completion. Saved learning records include per-quest attempt counts and correct attempts, completion state, workbook project drafts, project passes, and completion timestamps. These records support your learning summaries, cross-device progress, and course requirements. Do not enter confidential data or passwords into practice fields.

Completion credentials

We create a public certificate record only after you explicitly request one and confirm the public information disclosure. We store your chosen learner name, course and version, issue date, unguessable credential ID, and status. Anyone with a valid credential link or ID can see the learner name and those completion details. The public record does not expose your account identifier or individual answers. A downloaded or shared certificate may remain in another person’s possession after you remove the hosted record.

Service improvement and feedback

We use aggregate learning and service summaries to identify confusing lessons and technical failures. These are derived from records needed to provide signed-in learning. We do not load external analytics, advertising pixels, or marketing trackers, and there is no separate email list. Optional first-party measurement is described below. Feedback you choose to submit is stored so we can investigate and improve the service. Support emails are processed to respond to your request. Do not include sensitive information.

Hosting and sign-in

Website hosting and sign-in providers process technical requests to deliver and secure the service. This can include network addresses, request times, browser details, and authentication information under their own service arrangements. Sumwarden does not sell your learning records or use them to target advertising. Links to external documentation and social platforms follow those services’ privacy policies.

Optional usage measurement

Measurement is off until you choose Allow measurement. We save random browser and session identifiers, event type, lesson/project path, campaign source/name and timestamps for up to 90 days. We do not collect formulas, names, full referring URLs or associate these events with an account. Clearing storage or changing devices changes the identifier. DNT and Global Privacy Control keep measurement off. Network addresses are hashed with the UTC date for short-lived rate limiting; raw addresses are not saved in our application database. Use Privacy choices to stop measurement or erase events for this browser before clearing its identifier. Aggregate owner reports cover consenting browsers and are not a census of visitors.

Voluntary adult pilot

If you volunteer, we save your account-linked enrollment date, device category, Excel experience, optional ease rating and notes. Participation is voluntary and is not permission to record you or publish a testimonial. Account export and deletion include these records. Do not submit confidential information.

Your controls and deletion

Use your account to export or delete server-stored learning and credential records. Local browser records are separate: reset them in your journal or clear this site’s storage. We keep account, progress, feedback, and credential records to provide the service until deletion, subject to any information we must retain under applicable law or for an active security issue. Contact us to request access, correction, or help with deletion. We may confirm ownership before acting.

Your choices

Practice anonymously, export a local save, choose whether to submit feedback, and decide whether to issue or share a public certificate. Sumwarden is intended for adult learners and is not directed to children under 13; contact us if you believe a child’s personal information was provided.

Purchases and recovery snapshots

If you purchase the optional workplace pack, Stripe processes payment details. We keep the order identifier, payment status, amount/currency, processor references, receipt link and any refund request. Card numbers are not received by Sumwarden. Purchase history is account-scoped. Account deletion removes access and detaches the account identifier from retained transaction records used for accounting, refunds and disputes; contact support with purchase proof for recovery. Encrypted private recovery snapshots rotate after14days. A restored snapshot must be reconciled with subsequent deletion and refund requests before normal service resumes.

Changes

We will update this notice when data practices change. A future newsletter, paid plan, or new analytics service will need its own accurate disclosure before it is introduced.
